Designed and printed at the new Gammalyte Press in Forest Knolls, CA, This Fine Art Rock Print has 8 different screens that were hand printed one at a time over a period of 3 1/2 days with #1 assist by Ron Donovan & LuLu on my newly acquired M&R Saturn screen print press. Each pigmented color was custom blended, giving this print extra vibrancy, texture and depth by using a metallic under-base and a secret recipe gloss overcoat that shimmers and subtly shifts the Gammachrome™ tinted colors from different viewing angles and light sources.

Many thanks to all my friends and family who encouraged and helped me bring this new studio into existence. Number one inspiration is my daughter Jasmine, whose light shines the brightest of all in my life. Then the steadfast support and inspiration from my fellow artist/printers at The Firehouse; RonDonovan, who re-taught me everything I forgot (and then some) from the 80′s during our time in Malaquias Montoya’s screen-printing class at CCAC, and taking the time and effort with me for many an exploration of the outer boundaries and possibilities of the available technology and alchemy of color, ink and substrates. Chuck Sperry for his generosity of the use of The Firehouse studio, all his gear and opportunities to design and print posters with him for the Firehouse-Goldenvoice series.

A most definite nod to Jeff Wood of Drowning Creek Studio – Truth be told, it was some special effect overlays on a screen print that Jeff did that kick-started some gears in my head that inspired me to experiment with the textural and spectral possibilities of under and over printing with different types of inks.

Also in order is a huge thanks to the continued support from the poster collecting community, especially all the peeps I’ve met through Expresso Beans and TRPS.

Last but not least, grateful thanks for the enthusiasm, courageous leaps of faith and creative heckling by my long-time friend and studio mate Zoltron, who has sent many an art project my way and climbed the graphic slopes with me for many years now.

We have some exciting projects in the works this summer, including special limited edition screen prints for performances at Harmony Festival 2011, assorted other summer music festivals, film posters and art prints by myself, Zoltron and others.
